About the Irish Maritime Law Association

The Irish Maritime Law Association (“IMLA”) welcomes you to its website.  The IMLA was established in May 1963 and is the national branch of the Comite Maritime International (CMI).  It aims to promote a better understanding of Irish maritime law and to encourage its unification on an international level.

It does this by:

  • providing a forum for review of legislation, both domestic and international, in relation to maritime matters;

  • liaising with the Department of Communications, Marine & Natural Resources;

  • participating in the work of the CMI and in particular its working committees;

  • and holding seminars on topics of interest to its members.
